Ceiling fan remodeling

First, ceiling fans nowadays can turn clockwise and counter-clockwise. That's right. Thanks to manufacturers and designers who have invested ample time and effort in making sure that the ceiling fans of today respond to the growing needs of the time and people's lifestyle.

As you have probably noticed, ceiling fan blades are diagonally-attached to absorb air and thrust it rapidly downwards you, in a counter-clockwise motion, to cool the lower portion of a room. This is how traditional ceiling fans work, which makes them effective during the warmer months.

New ceiling fan models, however, feature an electronic switch that controls the direction of the ceiling fan's rotation. Thus, you can now have a ceiling fan that turns clockwise to absorb air from the lower part of the room and direct it upwards. This type of ceiling fan is useful during the colder months because it absorbs the cool air from below and pushes it upwards.

Benefits of a ceiling fan in winter and summer

So why do
you need a ceiling fan? The two modes of movement provide several benefits, including energy savings and complementing the functions of other temperature regulators in a room.

Why you need a ceiling fan in summer?

First of all, during the warmer months, ceiling fans help keep a room cool by blowing a circulatory breeze. With effective circulation, ceiling fans can actually make a room cooler by 8 degrees and reduces air-conditioning bills by as much as 40 percent. Additionally, a cooler temperature allows your air-conditioning system to work less harder, thus, lengthening its lifespan.

Why you need a ceiling fan in winter?

Using plain Physics, warm air is less dense than cool air. Hence, warm air during winter stays on the upper part of a room near the ceiling. The clockwise rotation of the blades causes warm air to be thrust or re-circulated downwards to warm the part near the floor while simultaneously absorbing the cool air from below and pushing it upwards. This makes the heating systems more efficient and it helps circulate warm air in the entire room.

Moreover, not usually mentioned, as one of the benefits of a ceiling fan, is its benefit on our health. Stagnant air can foster the growth of harmful microbes that are prevalent especially in the winter months. The air circulation brought about by ceiling fans helps thwart or minimize bacterial growth keeping the air fresh.

So why do you need a ceiling fan? The answers are staring you in the face. Besides the energy savings, system maintenance, and health benefits, ceiling fans can also enhance a room's existing decors. Ceiling fans now come in a variety of aesthetically-pleasing designs to complement your existing décor and add charm to a room. Are you into rustic or modern design, medium-sized or larger ceiling fans? Go to your local shop and see what designs fit your preference.

For me, ceiling fans are primarily used to circulate the air of a room. Thus, if the air of a room or home is well circulated, it will be less humid.
